Victoria Cross winner

These three documents include letters relating to Australian Victoria Cross winners being announced in London late in 1915.  The first letter is from the New South Wales Agent General in London, Bernhard Wise, to Premier Holman, dated 3 November 1915.  In the letter Wise refers to a letter of congratulations he addressed to recently announced Australian Victoria Cross winners.  The second letter is a personal note from Captain Frederick Harold Tubb to Bernhard Wise, written from Coldstream Scotland.  In the letter Tubb states that “Nothing has given me such pleasure as receiving congratulations from my fellow Australians.”  The third letter is a press release prepared by the Premier’s Office for publication in local Australian papers.  These letters are from Premier’s Department NRS 12060, Letters received [9/4710] letter 15/9917.
